NUFFIELD Health and Wellbeing Centre in Weybourne Road is encouraging people to think about their own hearts in the build up to Valentine’s Day as part of a free heart health event.

The one-day event, which takes place on Tuesday, February 16, and is open to non-members, will give guests the opportunity to learn more about their own heart health, ways to improve it and potential risks to look out for.

Nuffield Health experts will also be on hand to provide details of tests which can help identify heart issues as well as giving free Vo2 max tests which indicate levels of cardiovascular fitness.

Diet and lifestyle choices will also be discussed and how certain conditions like high blood pressure and cholesterol can contribute to heart disease.

Ahead of the event Nuffield Health’s professional head of fitness, Chris Foster, has provided his five top tips for keeping your heart healthy:

• Don’t smoke.

• Exercise for 150 minutes per week.

• Eat a heart-healthy diet.

• Maintain a healthy weight.

• Get enough quality sleep.

The heart health ‘Meet Our Experts’ event is part of a series of free events which will be running at Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing Gyms across the UK throughout the year.
