ST Luke’s Cancer Centre at the Royal Surrey County Hospital launched its new radiotherapy machine last Friday with the support of MP Jeremy Hunt and ShowShack dance and theatre school in Farnham.
Showshack students performed a spectacular theatrical production ‘Showtime’ at the Princes Hall in Aldershot last month, raising £11,000 towards the St Luke’s appeal.
And on December 11, the school’s managing director Pauline Thomson joined the MP for South West Surrey and Health Secretary, Mr Hunt, to unveil a plaque and open the unit’s new equipment.
The intracranial stereotactic radiotherapy machine will help many cancer sufferers by allowing patients to receive high doses of treatment in one sitting rather than attending multiple sessions over a number of weeks.
