ELDERLY residents of a care home in Farnham threatened with closure have made a heartfelt plea to Surrey County Council not to take away their home.

At an emotional meeting hosted by campaign group Save Our Services in Surrey, residents of Cobgates in Falkner Road begged councillors not to close the last remaining council-run care home in Farnham.

They urged that instead of branding Cobgates "sub-standard", the council should see it for the wonderful, caring and loving home it is at the heart of the Farnham community.
