PHYLLIS Tuckwell’s charity shop in Beacon Hill was broken into on Wednesday night and a small amount of goods stolen.

Due to damage caused during the break-in, Phyllis Tuckwell has only just been able to re-open the shop.

Netty Robinson, manager of the Beacon Hill shop, said “We are very saddened by this break-in.

“Not only have these thieves stolen goods which have been generously donated by the local community, which we could have sold to help raise money to fund our care, but the damage done also means that we have not been able to re-open, meaning a further loss of revenue for our vital cause.”

The break-in was announced on Phyllis Tuckwell’s social media yesterday (May 3) in a tweet which read: “We are saddened to say that our Phyllis Tuckwell shop at Beacon Hill is closed today following a break-in last night, causing damage to the building.

“We hope the shop will re-open tomorrow PM (May 4) and we will inform supporters on our social media once the shop is re-opened.”

Phyllis Tuckwell provides supportive and end-of -ife care for patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer, in West Surrey and North East Hampshire.

Anyone with information relating to the burglary is asked to contact the police.
