ALTON’S Anstey Park has hosted the annual Companion Dog Show.

Kennel Club-licensed, the summer event was organised by Mary Fairley, of the Alton and District Dog Training Club, and featured pedigree, novelty and obedience classes.

Despite the heat and the World Cup, the show drew competitors from as far afield as Poole in Dorset and Salisbury, Wiltshire, to raise £158 for the charity Medical Detection Dogs although, according to Mrs Fairley, this will be made up to £400 from club funds.

Mrs Fairley thanked everyone who helped with and supported the event, not least two independent dog walkers who helped dismantle the gazebos at the end of the show.
