HEAVY snowfall brought Liphook and surrounding areas to a standstill last Friday.

Around The Square and in Station Road shops remained shut on Friday. Only a handful opened for a limited time, including Gables Newsagents and Liphook Cycles and there were no postal deliveries for many residents.

But all main roads were ploughed and gritted by Hampshire County Council as well as pavements in and around The Square, in the village Side roads remained untreated however.

Freezing temperatures over the weekend turned untreated roads into ice rinks. A fresh layer of snow on Tuesday made some even more treacherous for drivers.
