THE Hedgehogs, Farnham’s local charity helping local people in need, has presented a cheque for £1,500 to FATN Talking News.

FATN Talking News is a registered self-funding charity based in The Chantrys, Farnham, that produces a weekly audio version of local newspapers for all people who are visually impaired or have a physical difficulty holding the newspaper, together with a monthly magazine.

The charity has been based in Farnham for over 45 years.

The donation of £1,500 will assist FATN Talking News to invest in new equipment used in the production of the weekly audio paper and the equipment used by its listeners at home.

Ann Newson, chairman of FATN said: “As a relatively small charity we are extremely grateful to the Hedgehogs for this significant donation.

“FATN Talking News has currently circa 250 registered listeners in the Farnham, Aldershot, Alton and Surrey Heath areas and this donation will enable us to expand the number of listeners using FATN’s weekly service.”

Mike Dunkley, chairman of the Hedgehogs, said at the presentation: “When we received the request from Ann Newsom for financial support, and after further investigation, the members of the Hedgehogs unanimously agreed to support FATN Talking News.

“The charity does truly essential work, in and around Farnham for those in our community who rely on FATN Talking News to keep up to date on what is happening within their community.

“The Hedgehogs hope to be able to continue working with FATN in the future.”
