ALTON Cardiac Rehab Centre has received a £1,000 boost for their funds from the Hedgehogs.

The cheque was presented by Roger Hobbs, committee member of Farnham-based charity The Hedgehogs, to centre manager Denise Ellis at the Chawton Park Road facility.

“We are grateful to the Hedgehogs continuing to support the work that we do and the donation will go toward replacing equipment that has reached the end of its life cycle.

“We will be raising the awareness of the work undertaken by the centre in Farnham through collection boxes managed by our supporters.”

The donation was made in recognition of the vital work the cardiac rehabilitation charity undertakes in helping people who are recovering from heart-related issues.

The centre serves north, east and mid-Hampshire (and surrounding areas) and obtains referrals from GPs and Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The centre was opened in 1997, after being located at Alton Sports Centre, and to date has helped more than 8,000 people recover from heart problems.

The centre’s unique marketing benefit is that it is used by people whom may be excluded from conventional sports centres and health clubs for insurance reasons.

All of the centre’s instructor staff is fully qualified to standards set by the British Association for Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation.
