THE Hedgehogs have presented Sue Weaver of charity Change of Scene a cheque for £10,981, representing the proceeds of the Farnham Motoring Revival event held in July.
The Farnham Motoring Revival was the Hedgehogs’ most successful fundraising event, with guests on the day enjoying presentation of classic and historic cars in the ‘big top’ marquee and beloved classic and historic vehicles of the Hedgehogs’ guests on the day.
Hedgehogs chairman Bob Hockey said: “The Hedgehogs are delighted that our main summer fundraising event generated such an amount to enable us to support our chosen charity, Change of Scene.
“The Farnham Motoring Revival would not have been as successful without the commitment of our sponsors and Robert and Tanya Lewis owners of the museum around which the Farnham Motoring Revival was held.
“We are also very grateful to Nigel Webb of the Mike Hawthorn Collection, Duncan Hamilton Ltd and Premier Panel Skills Ltd for allowing the Hedgehogs to present the cars in our ‘big top’ marquee on the day.”
Sue Weaver, of Change of Scene added: “Without the financial support of the Hedgehogs, the charity would not be able to undertake planned new projects for the children who attend.
“The proceeds of £10,981 will enable us to bring in a horse riding tutor and horticulturalist to help our students learn further skills in our specially created environment.
“The effort put in by all involved in the organisation, set up and presentations on the day, has enabled Change of Scene to really benefit from a great event.”
The Hedgehogs has increased the amount raised for the third consecutive year and reported for 2015/16 a total amount raised of £73,803.
This record high in 2015/16 has enabled the Hedgehogs to make donations totalling £58,147 to 66 separate local worthy causes including schools, organisations and local charities as well as families and individuals in need, the latter of which are often overlooked.
