NEW height restriction barriers are being put up in several local car parks in order to improve security.
The Waggon Yard and Upper Hart are two of several car parks in the area to have these barriers installed.
A council spokesperson said: “The council will be installing height barriers in Waggon Yard (Farnham), St James (Farnham), Upper Hart (Farnham) and Wey Hill (Haslemere) car parks over the next few weeks.
“This work is to improve the car parks’ security”.
It comes after a flurry of traveller incursions in the borough last year, when travellers were summoned to move on from several sites, including Dogflud Car Park.
But local people have been responding to our recent Facebook post saying it is a “waste of money”.
Stuart Pearce commented: “That’s really annoying because when I pick up my son from St Andrew’s School I’m not going to be able to park in there because my van will be to tall.”
Lower Church Lane resident Pierre Jaquet told The Herald: “I do appreciate why they’ve had to do it but unfortunately old historic towns do get messed around with at times.
“It will look a huge eyesore in a very pretty and medieval area but it seems to be a necessary evil.
“With all the frustrations of it suddenly happening, it is a personal thing and I feel sorry for the people living opposite having to look at the barriers.”
