WAVERLEY Borough Council is offering free help to landlords with a home to let to find more homes for people on its housing waiting list.
There are 389 families waiting for a two bedroom affordable home in Waverley. The average wait is three to four years with many families struggling to find a home due to high prices and a shortage of affordable homes.
The council’s Tenant Finder service offers landlords peace of mind through a range of services including free advice on Right to Rent Checks, a hassle-free deposit scheme, free and professional check-in and check-out service, free energy performance certificates and unlimited access to the council’s resource centre and support from experienced staff.
Carole King, Waverley’s portfolio holder for housing services, said: “The tenant-finder service, along with building more affordable and shared ownership homes, is part of our strategy to make more homes available.
“I hope landlords will respond positively to our offer of support and work with us to help more local families find the homes they need.”
Over the coming weeks a poster and social media campaign will aim to inform landlords and their agents of the benefits of using the tenant finder – more information is available online at www.waverley.gov.uk/tenantfinder.
