POLICE are asking residents to be on alert after a spate of Òmindless damageÓ to property.

Twelve incidents of criminal damage were reported last week. Hotspots have been identified as Champney Close in Whitehill, Linford Wey and TaylorÕs Lane in Lindford, and Portsmouth Road in Liphook.

Inspector Gerry Thorne said: ÒIt tends to be minor damage but the point is that it is causing a lot of problems for local residents. It is affecting their quality of life. This is becoming more of a problem for us and we have got to try to tackle it.

ÒWe need to ask parents to ask their kids what they are doing when they are out at night - especially if they are hanging around in those areas that I have identified.

ÒWe also need residents who see these things happening to contact us at the time because that is the best chance that we have to catch them.

ÒThese people obviously think that it is funny but there is always somebody who has to clear up after them and we certainly donÕt find it funny.Ó

Anyone who sees an act of criminal damage is urged to contact officers at Whitehill on 0845 045 45 45.
