YOUNG Mischief Makers are invited to take part in Farnham Library’s Beano Science Workshop tomorrow (Thursday, August 16), taking place from 10.30am to 11.30am.

Gnasher has been dognapped and the library needs some detectives to help find him.

Learn about the science of chromatography and experiment with invisible ink and fingerprinting.

The workshop is suitable for children aged six upwards. Tickets are available from the library in West Street for £2.50. Call 0300 200 1001 or email [email protected] for details.

It comes as part of Farnham Library’s Summer Reading Challenge 2018.

This year’s theme, ‘Mischief Makers’, is inspired by the much-loved children’s comic Beano which is celebrating its 80th Anniversary.

The Summer Reading Challenge is aimed at children aged four to 11 years and is for everyone regardless of their reading ability. Taking part is easy and free. Just visit Farnham Library or any other local library to sign up.

Children signing up for the challenge this year will follow clues to explore their colourful collector’s map of Beanotown; meeting Dennis, Gnasher and friends along the way.

Borrow books through the summer and earn special stickers to help find the mysterious buried treasure, and other free rewards along the way. Children will get a certificate and a wristband after you’ve read six books.

They can read whatever you like, fact, fiction, joke books or poetry, from our excellent range. You can even borrow audio books and listen if you prefer.

Taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge helps children to become more fluent, confident and happy readers.

The Summer Reading Challenge is produced by The Reading Agency and delivered by libraries.
