WAVERLEY Borough Council has secured £124,000 in government funding towards the cost of six new starter homes to help young people to get a foot on the property ladder.
£38,000 will go towards two homes in Farnham and £86,000 towards four properties in Aarons Hill. The homes will be offered at a minimum 20 per cent discount on open market value, which must be no more than £250,000 for a starter home.
Carole King, portfolio holder for housing at Waverley, said: “New homes which are affordable for young people are vital to help them stay in the area and to maintain the vibrancy of our local communities.
“I am delighted that we have secured the necessary government grant support and look forward to seeing more affordable new homes built.”
