GARAGE and car showroom Hawthorns recently presented Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care with a cheque for £500.

Hawthorns’ generous donation was raised when the business sold its old MOT inspection ramp, having bought a new one which allows them to carry out MOTs and servicing much faster and more efficiently.

Rather than keeping the money, managing mirector Jonathan Sproule and ginancial firector Jason Smith kindly decided to donate it to Phyllis Tuckwell.

Paul Pearson, corporate fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell. said: “We are very grateful to Hawthorns for their generous donation. As the NHS/Government only covers 20 per cent of our costs, we have to raise over £15,000 a day to be able to offer all our services, free of charge, to our patients and their families, and rely heavily on the support and generosity of local businesses to meet this target.”

Hawthorns, named after Farnham’s own racing driver, Mike Hawthorn, is a long-time supporter of Phyllis Tuckwell, and is planning to further support the charity with a very special car rally in the spring. Details of this will be announced in the new year, so keep an eye on the Phyllis Tuckwell website (www.pth.org.uk) to find out more.
