KEEN to “give something back to the community”, St Bartholomew’s Primary School has raised more than £1,000 for the town’s Hunter Centre to support those with dementia.
Following a Christmas production, there was a collection for a nominated charity and headteacher Charles Beckerson chose the Hunter Centre.
The school choir also visits the centre each year to sing Christmas carols to its clients.
Knowing how important donations are to secure the long-term future of the much-used facility, St Bart’s was determined to give as much as it could.
Mr Beckerson said: “I would like to thank the families at St Barts for their generosity in raising such an amazing amount of money.”
Hunter Centre manager Elaine Clements was delighted to receive the school’s donation after assembly.
The day-care facility operates from 10am-4pm from The Marjorie Gray Hall on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Carers can leave their loved ones for a few hours for some much-needed respite.
