THE annual Herald Classic Car Show and Rally was a hit at the weekend with a record number of vintage motors filling Alton town centre.

Saturday’s show saw around 200 cars, bikes and military vehicles judged in a variety of categories.

Town mayor Graham Titterington said it was “by far the best classic car show to date”.

“The weather was glorious and the variety of vehicles was vast from classic cars, to motorbikes and even a tank, all of their owners have lavished lots of care and attention to keep them in such pristine condition and make them available for our enjoyment,” he added.

He extended a “special thanks” to the Herald, Alton Lions Club and “all the volunteers” who “helped to stage this wonderful community event”.

Proceeds will be split between Alton Community First Responders and Bushy Leaze.
