SPECSAVERS in Petersfield has donated high-visibility jackets to the Pedal2Pedal academy – an initiative which helps children and adults become better riders in a fun and progressive environment.

Part of Pedal2Pedal’s mission is to prepare cyclists to be confident and in control of their bikes in any situation, and being visible in the dark evenings with a high-visibility jacket is one small step everyone can take to improve their safety.

Hannah Attenburrow, founder of Pedal2Pedal, said: “When Specsavers in Petersfield contacted us with the offer of free high-visibility jackets for our members, we were overjoyed.

“Now that winter is approaching, the jackets will help children be safe and seen on the trails in the evenings, and they will enable our younger riders to enjoy their sport for longer in the coming months.

“The children can all take their high-visibility jackets home and wear them when riding to school or out and about with friends and family. It’s great to know that they will be more visible to drivers on the road.”

Jo Cox, store director at Specsavers in Petersfield, which is based on The Square, said: “It was a pleasure to meet Hannah and the Pedal2Pedal children at their mountain bike training session at Queen Elizabeth Park in October.

“The children were having lots of fun zooming about in the lovely setting of the park. Hannah’s efforts are commendable and it is nice to play our small role in keeping these children visible and safe ahead of the clocks going back.”
