LONG-term Seale resident Pauline Merrill died last week after a brave battle with cancer.

Mrs Merrill lived in Seale for 50 years and was highly active in village life.

A founder member of the village’s famous Wednesday Group which, in some 40 years, has never met on a Wednesday.

She was also on the Seale Village Hall committee and helped organise the successful D-Day anniversary celebrations on the Sands Rec in 2005.

She was asked to officially declare open The Sands Diamond Jubilee street party four years ago.

Mrs Merrill volunteered for the Farnham WRVS for over 30 years, only retiring at the end of last year.

Her late husband, Rupert, was chairman of the governors at Seale School, the long-time organiser of the Seale and Sands Summer Show and founder of the Seale, Sands and Runfold Amenity Society.

The funeral is on Wednesday, July 6, at 12.30pm at St Laurence Church followed by a wake at The Sands Room. Family flowers only, donations to Phyllis Tuckwell.
