A GROUP of Hindhead residents has launched a petition in a bid to shake up Waverley Borough Council's current noise pollution and control procedures.

Describing the present system as "slow and ineffective", the residents who signed the petition are seeking an "urgent review" of the procedures following an incident when they were disturbed by an alarm going off at a caravan park behind the former Happy Eater restaurant along the A3 in Hindhead.

The petition was due to be presented to Waverley's environment and planning committee on August 11.
