WOOLMER Hill is one of 17 local schools backing charity arts project Haslemere Hogs, launched to raise money for Haslemere Mayor Sahran Abeysundara’s four nominated charities.

Hamming it up with the mayor at Woolmer Hill was the school’s very own fibreglass hog, which is one of a limited edition of 60 up for sponsorship as part of the scheme.

It will be up to pupils to name, design and decorate their new arrival, ready for the Hog Parade in April, when all 60 finished artworks will go on display for three months, before being auctioned off to raise money for the mayor’s charities.

Headteacher Clare Talbot said: “Woolmer Hill is very grateful to Haslemere Town Council for giving the school the opportunity to take part in the Hog Parade,”

“ We look forward to revealing our Hog in its full glory soon.”

Mr Abeysundara said: “Haslemere Town Council are delighted to support Haslemere Hogs and are thrilled so many of the schools, not least those from the surrounding area, have been inspired to join the project.

“The schools will not only produce an exciting variety of designs but will also find different ways of interacting with the wider communities.
