THE GOING was very muddy for the Alton Motor Cycle Club trial at Froxfield on Sunday. But Hindhead rider Daniel Beavan pressed on with determination and was the only 'A' route class contender to make it to the finish.

His father, Tim Beavan, managed to complete the 'B' route twin shock-absorber machine class.

Greatham sister and brother, Tara and Kyle Cross, finished third and fourth in the 'C' routed novice class

Also on Sunday, a North Hants Club trial was contested in Crondall Woods, near Crookham, and David Hickman of Kingsley notched up a brilliant adult 'A' class victory. Arford veteran Tony O'Loughlin lost only one mark on his victorious O/40s class ride.

Another Sunday event was the Basingstoke Club trial at Headley, near Newbury,  where Whitehill's Don Schiel achieved O/40s class victory. Alfred Miles of Headley Down won youth class 'C' and Bordon's Benny Ayres finished fourth in the adult 'A' class.

This Sunday, an XHG Tigers Club enduro takes place on Chalk Pit Hill, near Tidworth (10 am) and the Farnham Royal Club's annual Home Guard trial  will be staged at Bell House Field in Beaconsfield (10-30 am).

On Boxing Day, there is a North Berks Club trial at the Moors, East Hagbourne, near Didcot (10 am). On  Saturday, December 28 an Aldermaston Nomads Club trial takes place at Mortimer West End, south of Reading (11-30 am). The annual Windlesham Cup trial will be contested on Bagshot Heath on December 29 when there is also a Portsmouth Schoolboy Club motocross taking place at Swanmore, near Bishops Waltham (10 am).

On to New Year's Eve, and  the Waltham Chase Club will stage a trial on Hut Hill near Chandlers Ford (10-30 am). On New Year's Day, there is an Alton Club trial at  West Tisted; a Bognor Regis Club trial at Halnaker, near Chichester (both 10-30 am), and a Basingstoke Club trial at Swanthorpe, near Bentley (11 am).
