WAVERLEY councillors have gone against a recommendation from planning officers in order to allow housing development on the former Travis Perkins builders merchants site in West Street, Farnham.

The council's western area planning committee has approved an application by Taylor Wimpey Ltd for 22 homes on the plot, which has been vacant since Travis Perkins moved to the Coxbridge Business Park.
