ALMOST 50 homes in Weybank Close near Farnham Sports Centre are to have their gardens checked for pollution, as part of an investigation of the entire former Farnham gasworks site.

Work in March ahead of the refurbishment of Farnham Sports Centre, which started on Monday, found underground deposits of tarry sludge, wood, slate and rope, typically found on former gas works sites.
