A PETITION calling for the former hop fields at the rear of Beavers Road and Crondall Lane to receive special protection from development has provoked a swift reaction from the owner of the land for the past 53 years.

A solicitor acting for owner Alfred Evans has given a warning that, apart from two public footpaths, there are no other recognised rights of access or rights for people to use the land as a public amenity.
