Residents can hop on a Hoppa in and around Godalming for free on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in March.

Many folk living in and around Godalming who do not have transport are currently registered to use the community service.

Passengers can book the dial-a-ride service to pick them up from home at an agreed time to go to Godalming for routine medical appointments, weekly shopping trips or leisure activities. Every Hoppa bus is wheelchair-accessible and has plenty of room for storage.

Hoppa general manager Steve Forward said: “Thanks to a grant from Waverley Borough Council, the Godalming service was expanded in October 2015, which means we can now operate two buses from Monday to Friday. By offering these free travel days we are keen to encourage more people to try out the service at the beginning of the week when it is often a little bit quieter.

“The free travel days also provide a great opportunity for people who have not yet tried the service to register and give it a go.

“Hoppa is reliable and our door-to-door service puts an end to waiting around in the cold for the bus to arrive or having to carry heavy shopping bags from the bus stop to home.

“Our drivers are very friendly and will see that passengers get off the bus safely and to their front door. We are proud of the service we offer and know that if it wasn’t for Hoppa, many people would lose their independence as they would not have the transport means to leave their homes.”

To register go to www.hoppa.org. uk or call 01428 681701. The normal fare for the dial-a-ride service is £2.50 each way, which will still apply on Thursdays and Fridays in March.
