OBJECTORS to Waverley's "premature" decision to press ahead with a pay-and-display scheme for Wey Hill's Fairground car park took action on Tuesday night.
The Haslemere Society joined traders in condemning the recommendation voted through by Waverley's executive committee last month to authorise the preparation and submision of a fresh application for consent to refurbish the free fairground car park – and charge for the 130 spaces to be provided.
Responding to residents' concerns, members of Waverley Borough Council's overview and scrutiny committee called in the decision.
And at their meeting on Tuesday night they exercised their right to request that Waverley's executive should reconsider its decision when it meets next month.
