TOWN residents were told this week that they were finally able to water their gardens again.

Following the wettest June since 1910, South East Water announced this week it was lifting its hosepipe ban with immediate effect.

The firm, which serves many households in White-hill and Bordon, is heavily dependent on groundwater supplies which provide 75 per cent of its water. These were at record low levels following a two-year drought, but rainfall since April means the underground aquifers are now recovering.

"We are pleased to be able to lift the restrictions and return to a normal service for customers," Paul Seeley of South East Water.
