MORE than £10,000 was raised for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, when golfers took to Hankley Golf Club’s course. The grey clouds which marked much of the week were nowhere to be seen, and the 22 teams who took part enjoyed a sunny autumn morning.

The golfers were greeted with bacon rolls before a 9.30am shotgun start began the morning’s golf, which included Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive competitions for both ladies and gentlemen.

Securing first prize were winners Team GB with a score of 125. The morning was rounded off with a two-course carvery lunch and a generously supported auction, which offered prizes including golf days, golfing memorabilia such as Justin Rose signed golf shoes, a Hugh Johnson fine wine collection and two tickets to the Wales vs South Africa world cup rugby quarter final.

Laura Moody, events fundraising manager at Phyllis Tuckwell, said: “We would like to thank Hankley Golf Club for their continued support, Roger Jude and the Rotary Club of Farnham, the Inner Wheel of Farnham for running a tombola on the day, and all the teams who took part.

“The £10,099 which this golf day has raised will help us to care for those facing a terminal illness such as cancer, supporting them and their families through the toughest of times.”
