THE 'biggest Christmas tree in Surrey' will shine over Frensham this festive season, after a Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice volunteer decorated her 40ft pine tree to raise awareness of the hospice and promote an upcoming charity Christmas fayre.

Tess Russell has dressed her tree in Summerfield Lane with 5,000 LED lights to represent the £5,000 it costs to transport day patients to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice over five months, as well as the cost of running the hospice for just eight hours.

Her elaborate Christmas decorations also serve to promote a Christmas gift fair at Frensham Heights School on Tuesday, November 19, organised by the hospice's Frensham and Dockenfield support group of which Tess is a member.

The fair will take place between 10am and 4pm, offering more than 40 stalls selling new gifts for the home as well as scarves, cashmere jumpers, toys, floral arrangements, paintings, candles, jewellery and much more.

Entry costs £3 and parking is free, with coffee, cakes and mince pies also available and all profits to be donated to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, based in Waverley Lane, Farnham.
