HOPES are high that an eagerly awaited new outpatients centre for Haslemere Hospital could get the green light early next month and be built by the end of the year.

Plans for an "exciting opportunity" to expand outpatient services and secure the community hospital's future by replacing the current cramped and dated facilities were first unveiled last May at the annual meeting of Haslemere League of Friends.

At last week's annual meeting, League of Friends chairman Rose Parry said a new way forward had been found for the project.
