THE saviour of Lewisham Hospital will go head-to-head with Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt again in the General Election, when she stands against him on his home turf as a candidate for The National Health Action Party. Lewisham GP Dr Louise Irvine, who led the successful campaign to save her local hospital from closure, hopes South West Surrey constituents will "welcome this opportunity to vote for someone who is dedicated to defending the NHS instead of privatising and cutting it". Dr Irvine has already made quite an impact locally. In March 2013, she headed a deputation of 150 campaigners, who staged a 'Hunt for Hunt' protest rally in the centre of Farnham. On the day, more than 1,000 residents signed her Hunt for Hunt petition against the closure of local hospitals, and she hopes to build on that support in her 2015 election bid.
