ALTON Community Hospital and Chase Hospital at Bordon have been selected by North Hampshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) to pilot a review of services for older people. The review will build on the latest phase of national plans to improve care and services for older people. It will take the first of three national themes, "dignity in care", and examine every aspect of care at the two hospitals, identifying and praising what is done well and highlighting areas where services need to improve so the PCT can develop an action plan. Alton Community Hospital was chosen to pilot the review process because of the work currently under way to reopen Inwood Ward in the autumn and develop the hospital as a centre for rehabilitation. Chase Hospital was then added because of the close working links between the two sites. The review will be led by Wendy Jehan, director of clinical quality and learning for Luton teaching primary care trust. Her team will include hospital staff as well as representatives from North Hampshire PCT, social services and the local Patient and Public Involvement Forum. The review will take place on two days in mid- July and the team aims to produce its report and action plan by late August. Sally Bassett, director of nursing and therapies for North Hampshire PCT, described the review as "a very positive development for patients and staff at Alton and Chase".
