MORE than 700 people gathered together for Phyllis Tuckwell’s annual Light up a Life service, a special and poignant event held to remember those close to our hearts who are no longer with us and celebrate their lives.
The service was held outside the hospice on November 26 and included readings by the mayor of Farnham and Michael Maher, chairman of trustees for Phyllis Tuckwell.
Farnham Brass Band led the carols and Phyllis Tuckwell chaplains said prayers and blessings.
As everyone gathered around the hospice Christmas tree, donated by Redfields Garden Centre, its lights were switched on to represent the lives of loved ones in whose memory the evening was dedicated.
Attendees were given tea lights to lay under the tree, and everyone present remembered special times and reflected on fond memories of their loved ones.
After the service, attendees were invited to South Farnham School for mulled wine and mince pies, the latter donated by Sainsbury’s.
The hospice has thanked all those who attended the service, as well as volunteers, Farnham Brass Band, the nearby schools, Redfields Garden Centre, and Sainsbury’s.
