THE hunt is on to find a reclusive "monster" that could cause major damage at a beauty spot in Petersfield.
Petersfield could have a Loch Ness Monster scenario on its hands as a large terrapin has been spotted around Heath Pond.
At least two people have seen the turtle-like creature in recent weeks, while a photograph has been sent to Petersfield Town Council.
Councillors joked last Thursday that the town council should cash-in on the discovery by producing souvenirs and a reward for catching the monster.
But the discovery might not be a laughing matter, as the creature is a hungry alien species which could damage fish stocks.
