AN elderly acupuncture practitioner from Farnham, who meted out violent retribution when he suspected his young wife of cheating on him with another man, has been jailed for five years.

There was an age gap of nearly 40 years between the couple who were wed following a marriage arranged by her family - and it was a union that ended in heartache and bloodshed at their home in Wessex Place.

Binh Phung, 70, locked Nusrat, 32, in their bedroom and stabbed her twice after threatening to kill her, Guildford Crown Court heard.

Mr Phung denied the charge but was found guilty by a jury, following a trial. He was cleared of attempted murder.
