LIPHOOK United’s Huskies team were worthy winners of the North East Hampshire Under 10 League Plate trophy last Saturday, courtesy of a 6-3 win against Bourne Blades in the final at Frimley Lodge.
Having come from behind to beat Chiddingfold 2-1 at home and then followed that up with away wins at Petersfield (8-3) and Crookham (4-2) across three consecutive cold and wet November weekends, the Huskies went into the final in fine form, and a superb display of skill in the first half saw them go into half time 3-0 up.
Despite Bourne puling it back to 3-2 and 4-3 the Huskies (pictured) added two late goals and ran out deserved winners in a nine-goal thriller.
All 10 members of the squad played in the seven-a-side final, and manager Andrew Oxton said: "This was a deserved reward for four superb performances from the boys who scored 20 goals in the four trophy games.
“They also played with a huge amount of desire and commitment in every game too, and follows on from our winning the Wey Valley tournament at the end of last season.
“Here’s hoping for many more trophies but, more importantly, more great football and attitude too."
