CHILDREN at Brookham School visited Haslemere Museum where they learned about how and why the Ancient Egyptians mummified bodies.
Children from the Liphook school looked at X-rays of a mummy, observed the museum’s mummies, and finished by “mummifying” their very own teddy.
The young Egyptologists have been making the most of all that the south of England has to offer in their exploration of Ancient Egyptian civilisation.
Thanks to CREW drama workshops, they had a great visit from ‘Professor Maggie Wheeler’ during which they learned about one of the most famous pharaohs, Rameses II. Earlier in the term, they visited Highclere Castle, home of Lord Carnarvon, best known as the financial backer of the search for and the excavation of Tutankhamun’s tomb.
Children have also enjoyed dressing up as pharaohs, putting their names in Cartouches using hieroglyphs, and drawing some amazing Egyptian scenes on real papyrus.
