WEYDON School raised money for the BBC’s Children in Need appeal in their own unique way, inspired by popular ITV show I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

Students came in dressed as their favourite real life or fictional celebrities – and the costumes were varied, everything from Lionel Messi to Buzz Lightyear.

Around the school, at breaktime and lunchtime, there were various activities inspired by the show, including bush tucker trials, jelly ‘slugs’, ‘swamp water’, and a jungle sweets sale.

Students from all year groups participated and the event was topped off by a flash mob of the teachers dancing to Cha Cha Slide on the playground.

The event was organised by Year 11 students and was widely considered a "great success" by teachers and students.

Weydon School principal Jackie Sharman said: “The Year 11 student leaders demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities and were creative and energetic.

“The event was an outstanding success and we were so pleased to have raised money for such a worthy cause.”

Weydon’s fundraising escapades raised £1,840 for the charity.
