FARNHAM’S campaign for glory in the national RHS Britain in Bloom competition has been launched at Forest Lodge Garden Centre.
Guests enjoyed drinks and canapes, which were served courtesy of Forest Lodge in its new restaurant.
The mayor spoke about the horticultural successes of 2015 and said how proud she is that Farnham has been chosen to represent Surrey in RHS’s Britain in Bloom.
She also gave thanks to this year’s Farnham in Bloom sponsors which include corporate sponsor BBS Ltd, gold sponsors The Patio Black Spot Removal Company Ltd, Graduate Landscapes, Forest Lodge and Squire’s Garden Centre, and silver sponsor Bourne Valley Contractors.
Everybody who has so far sponsored an individual planter or hanging basket was also acknowledged and thanked.
Bob Frost from BBS Ltd, the mayor’s husband and a supplier of MagiMix products, has chosen to be the corporate sponsor of Farnham in Bloom for the second year running.
He said: “We are delighted to be supporting Farnham in Bloom. Our business has been based in Farnham for nearly 25 years and during this time, we have seen the general environment and standard of floral displays in the town centre and surrounding areas grow exponentially.
“When you arrive in Farnham and see the flowers around the town and at the entrances to Farnham it is an absolute joy and quite uplifting.”
As well as beautiful flower displays, Farnham in Bloom delivers a wide range of initiatives and projects that bring wider community benefits.
Martin Billett, chairman of the Farnham in Bloom Community Group, explained: “We’re really excited about our entry into Britain in Bloom this year. The community group is working hard to make its entry inclusive to everyone, especially youngsters.”
