HART Road Runners hosted its inaugural Hart 4 Relay Race in balmy conditions at the weekend.

The Fleet-based group, welcomed 460 runners at the event which took place at Minley Woods near Camberley.

The event involved teams of four runners taking turns to complete as many laps of a 4 km loop as possible in just four hours.

With some very impressive performances on display, the winners of each category were run close as they looked to get their hands on the event’s first ever medals.

In the all-male category, runners from Finch Coasters Running Club clocked up the most laps with 17 laps in four hours and 14 minutes, an impressive 68 km between them.

In the all-female category, ‘Jo Longmuir Personal Training 1’ were the winners as they recorded 14 laps in four hours and four minutes, while the mixed category, saw a team named ‘Why Aorta…!’ scoop first prize with a total of 16 laps in four hours and eight minutes.

Winning teams and runners up were awarded prizes including handmade goblets from local pottery Bartley Heath, bottles of beer from local micro-brewery Elusive Brewing and goodies from the event sponsors.

The local running club was founded over 30 years ago and serves as a running community for people from all over the Hart area, with over 180 members on its books and aims to encourage and promote amateur road and cross country running in a social and supportive environment.
