DRAGONS, drums, fans and ribbons kept pupils at St Mary’s Infant School entertained when they celebrated Chinese New Year.

Children at the Frensham school enjoyed taking part in workshops on Wednesday, February 6,where they learned all about Chinese New Year, which began on February 5 and will continue for 15 days.

Provided by Earthsong Music Workshops, there was lots of loud drumming as the 40-foot dragon paraded around the school hall!

The children also learned traditional ribbon and fan dances and enjoyed the ‘hands-on’ nature of teaching.

Earthsong Music Workshops provides multicultural musical initiatives to schools, with themes featuring Africa, Japan, India, Australia and New Zealand, Hawaii and Polynesia, and the rainforest.
