In nominating him, she described him as "an inspiration to all who suffer difficulties in their lives".
Patrick was born 70 per cent deaf, has degenerative eyesight, has had epilepsy from an early age, and has still "borne everything with good grace" and remained "a cheerful and happy boy", his aunt said.
