PHYLLIS Tuckwell Hospice has received a donation of £3,485 from the Farnham Institute, a charity that gives grants for charitable purposes which are of general benefit to residents.

Meg Daniels and Andrew Lodge, of the Farnham Institute, visited Phyllis Tuckwell to present the cheque to hospice chief executive Sarah Brocklebank and Caroline Rogers, who manages the in-patient unit (IPU).

The Farnham Institute has been a huge supporter of Phyllis Tuckwell for a number of years, donating a total of £53,415.

This latest donation has enabled Phyllis Tuckwell to buy an Enterprise bed and an Autologik dynamic air mattress for its IPU.

The bed can be raised and lowered using an electronic touchpad, and the head rest can also be raised to help patients sit up. There is a touchpad for patients to use too, so they can adjust the bed themselves, and the bed’s side panels can also be raised or lowered for patient safety.

The mattress is made of linked air cushions which inflate and deflate in sequence, in order to help prevent or ease pressure ulcers.

Sarah said: “We would like to thank the Farnham Institute for this very generous donation, and for their continued support over the years.”
