FARNHAM U3A is thriving with around 1,400 members and well over a hundred interest groups available.

It caters for those no longer in full time work and holds its meetings during the daytime, mostly at Farnham Maltings.

A small exhibition was held in the entrance to the Maltings on Wednesday this week, showing the sort of activities the U3A can offer, and this will be repeated between 10am and 4pm on Friday, August 31.

Membership costs just £35 for the entire year and entitles people to take part in as many interest groups as they wish.

These include arts and crafts, fitness and sports, history, discussion groups, languages - six are available - literature, music, hobbies, pastimes and sciences.

There is something for everyone. And if you can fit a bit more into your week, you can go to the themed monthly meetings - this year the topic is the continent of Africa and outings.

Anyone interested in joining the U3A can find more information online at www.farnhamu3a.org.uk.
