IT'S a nirvana for commuters with decent schools, excellent pubs and good connections to Portsmouth,

Guildford and the capital.

Sir Alec Guinness, Miranda Hart, John Wyndham and Flora Twort have also lived within walking distance

of its old-fashioned town centre.

But the Guardian newspaper's claim that Petersfield is the "urban equivalent of a foot rub and G&T" hasn't gone down smoothly with some of its readers.
