MEMBERS of Liphook’s Love to Sing Choir hosted a weekend of Remembrance performing ‘We Will Remember Them’ at the Village Hall.

With a music hall-theme audiences were taken back to the era with songs and heartfelt poems.

The hall was decorated with bunting, flags and poppies along with moving tributes to the local men who served.

The two shows were attended by members of the Royal British Legion, who received a donation of £250 from choirmaster Vanessa Breach, who called it an honour to perform while commemorating those who fought in both World Wars.

Meanwhile, The Deer’s Hut pub commemorated the anniversary of 100 years since the end of WWI by hosting an Armistice supper, raising £550 for the Poppy Appeal.

Regulars tucked into an authentic WWI meal with spam and bully beef stew, topped off with trench cake and custard, washed down with a ration of rum. Ex-para Gary Southam recited a moving war poem by Wilfred Owen which was a fitting tribute to the event.
