FARNHAM library had a very special visitor last Thursday when Sherlock Holmes arrived, complete with deerstalker and pipe.
The Friends of Farnham Library were presenting another of their holiday children’s events as part of the animal agents’ summer reading scheme.
The Friends’ own Gilly Stewart played the role of Sherlock Holmes and kept the children spellbound with her story of The Hound of the Baskervilles.
They all then excitedly followed a sleuth trail around the library gardens, filling in a clue sheet after working out where several stuffed toy animals were hidden.
After finishing the sleuth trail, the children then listened to some of the violin music which Sherlock Holmes enjoyed.
The next event presented by the Friends will be The Firebird on Saturday, September 16, at 10.30am. This event is entirely free and everyone is very welcome.
Gilly, in her role as ‘The Firebird’ will tell the children a story about the Bird of Fire, they can then make a firebird mask and dance to the music of Stravinsky.
