BIRDWORLD is delighted to be supporting Love Your Zoo Week, a national initiative run by BIAZA (British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums) to raise awareness of UK zoos, from Tuesday, May 30, to Friday, June 2.
At Birdworld throughout the week the keepers will be carrying out plenty of additional talks, feeding sessions and activities for some of the birds and other animals around the park.
These include an additional talk about the current newborns at Birdworld and a session on the park’s very own flamboyant flamingos – which have laid eggs at the park for the very first time this year.
The keepers will also be carrying out its regular daily talks and shows such as penguin and pelican feeding and of course Birdworld’s famous outdoor flying display.
During the week at the Jenny Wren farm, visitors can see the sheep shearer at work and watch goat hoof trimming sessions on selected days.
There will also be the opportunity to join the farm keepers with some extra feeding sessions and take part in some animal-themed arts and crafts and face painting throughout the week on Birdworld’s Safari Lawn.
Mark Anderson, park general manager at Birdworld, said: “We can’t wait to welcome visitors and take part in another fantastic Love Your Zoo Week this year.
“The park’s keepers are very excited to be hosting these extra activities to educate and entertain visitors of all ages about the fascinating and mysterious birds and other animals that call Birdworld home.”
Open 10am until 6pm, last admissions are an hour before closing. Craft activities and face-painting to take place between 11am and 4pm. To book tickets, visit www.birdworld.co.uk or call 01420 22992.
