FARNHAM Duck Race will return to the River Wey in Gostrey Meadow on Saturday (April 30).
For the hundreds of rubber ducks training to take part, this is an anxious time. Duckmaster Mike Yeadon has been putting them through their paces under difficult conditions to make sure they are in tip top form for the big event.
On the day itself the ducks will be resting until the racing starts at noon when they will be launched off the Longbridge Road bridge in to the River Wey by the Mayor of Farnham, Pat Frost.
Organisers Farnham Weyside Rotary Club hope they will not be distracted by the many stalls and entertainments in Gostrey Meadow which will start at 10am.
Their improved stamina will make sure they are up to competing in the many heats which will take place during the afternoon with the grand final sometime around 3pm.
Like all sportsmen they do best in front of a cheering crowd, so duckmaster Mike and his many assistants from Farnham Weyside Rotary Club will be out selling tickets on the day, and hoping for big crowds. Come along and join in the fun.
